In 2010, the 69th annual Miami International Boat show will highlight all things aquatic and wonderful.Thousands of powerboats, engines, sailboats and marine craft will arrive and provide a visually splendid display of the latest marine designs and cutting edge technology. More than 2000 exhibitors from around the world will take part in the largest display of boating craft that Florida has to offer.

One of the most popular annual events in Miami is the Miami International Boat Show. Miami is one of biggest draw cards for boating enthusiast globally and the excellent sailing conditions and natural beauty of the area make the show a popular event for boaters and boating industry professionals.

The event takes place over five sun-soaked days when thousands of boat lovers descend on Miami to take part in the festivities. Hotels book out months in advance so if you plan to attend the boat show make sure you organize your booking ahead of time.

The event takes place in three separate locations – the Miami Beach Convention Center, the Sea Isle Marina and Yachting Centre and the Marina at Bayside.

The Big Game Room at the Miami Convention Center will be including an evening presentation with Chris Fischer, a leading Great White Shark expert and National Geographic team leader.

Fisher and his crew caught and released over 20 great white sharks, an amazing feat, and he will talk about his adventures and his passionate dedication to ocean conservation and sustainable marine practices.

The Affordability Pavilion at the Convention Center will showcase boating options for those on a budget. Presenters focus on providing a good range of affordable choices to novices interested in getting involved in marine leisure activities.

The Discover Boating Center hosts a great session with boating experts who can provide information and advice if you are planning on buying a boat. There is a sailing expedition available, but book ahead because it is very popular and slots fill up fast.

A Food and Wine festival at sunset provides a wonderful opportunity to mix and mingle.

This year the U.S Coast Guard will be introducing a First Mates course covering introductory topics such as:

Boater's language
Safety Equipment (mandatory & recommended)
Waterway Marker System
Basic Navigation Rules
Basic Radio and GPS
Keeping out of Trouble (weather, currents, fuel, injury, etc.)
Getting out of Trouble
Homeland Security
Environmental Protection

The course will run from Saturday to Sunday in the Big Game Room seminar area.

Sea Isle Marina will begin an exhibition of the largest sailboats and catamarans in the world, the precession of majestic and phenomenal craft will sail onwards to Bayside Marina. Discover Sailing - Pier 5 Sea Isle Marina on all days. This involves a 30-minute sail with great information about sailing. Book early to avoid disappointment.
